The ‘Bike Kitchen’ brings cycling enthusiasts together. Two such enthusiasts, Céline and Louise, picked up the idea during their Erasmus exchange in Vienna and brought it back to Ghent. Today, Ghent’s Bike Kitchen is run by more than 20 volunteers and serves as a meeting place for cyclists. Every Thursday from 18.00 until 22.00, cycling enthusiasts get together for the ‘repair bar’, where they can tinker around with their bikes, fix them, take them apart, or transform them, all with the help of the volunteers. With a 200m2 workspace available, complete with tools and secondhand materials, it’s a cyclist’s paradise!
