Wasbar is an exciting new concept aimed at twenty-something, tech-savvy urban professionals. It’s a launderette with a difference: at Wasbar you can enjoy a coffee, a beer or a relaxing bite to eat while doing your washing. The idea came from Dries Henau and Yuri Vandenbogaerde, two young marketers living in a small studio apartment in Ghent, too small to house a washing machine. Recognising that taking their laundry home was no longer an option, they launched Wasbar, a trendy café/launderette where young professionals come to surf the internet and keep up to date with the latest social media trends, such as log-off afternoons and twunches. This helps to create a buzz about the place, as word spreads fast over the internet. Indeed, since opening the Ghent Wasbar in October 2012, the pair signed a contract to open another in Antwerp in summer 2013.
