Wijveld is a pick-your-own farm scheme in the surrounding area of Ghent. Members go there to harvest their own vegetables: organic, fresh produce and full of flavour. At the beginning of the year they pay the farmer an agreed amount. In exchange, he provides them with a variety of seasonal vegetables. An email informs them of what is ready and provides instructions on how to harvest the vegetables. This short food chain, a form of Community Supported Agriculture (CSA), brings produce and people closer together and helps build respect for agriculture.
